Pro-abortion doctors gaslight parliamentarians who ask legitimate questions

Barnaby Joyce, Andrew Hastie and Liberal MPs Tony Pasin and Henry Pike should be commended for their efforts to call out the proposal by the federal government to permit paid parental leave for mothers who electively terminate their baby in the 3^rd trimester, which is legally allowed and can include mothers whose babies are normal.

Instead, the President of RANZCOG, Dr Nisha Khot, who is well known for promoting the narrative "abortion is healthcare", responded with pro-abortion sentiments, gaslighting the parliamentarians into thinking their concerns are unwarranted, maintaining pregnancy loss is pregnancy loss.

Dr Melissa Lai, Director of Pro-life Health Professionals Australia (PHPA) an organisation which supports health professionals who practice according to pro-life principles says, “Dr Khot’s comments are straight out of the pro-abortion playbook”. “RANZCOG representatives have supported this extreme legislation of permitting abortion up to birth in every state, so need to be seen opposing any perceived criticism of these laws, even if it flies in the face of logic. Which country in the world financially supports parents to deliberately end the lives of their children, and expects tax payers and employers to fund that? It’s quite extraordinary”.

Whilst pro-abortion supporters maintain that late-term abortions only occur for rare circumstances where the mother’s life is at risk or for severe lethal fetal anomalies, this is not the case, as clearly demonstrated in the Annual Report by the SA Abortion Reporting Committee for 2024. The report documents up to 34 babies older than 23 weeks were normal or without serious congenital anomalies at the time of termination, and were born at gestations that could have survived with neonatal intensive care.
