MLC Sarah Game has put forward the Termination of Pregnancy (Restrictions on Terminations after 24 Weeks and 6 Days) Amendment Bill 2026.

PHPA's Position Statement in response to MLC Sarah Game's Bill, which will be debated on Wednesday 17th June, 2026.

MLC Sarah Game's Bill HERE

The Bill seeks to amend the Termination of Pregnancy Act 2021, to only allow terminations from 25 weeks' onwards to save the life of the mother. This will reduce unnecessary infant deaths, the elective termination of babies who can survive outside their mothers if given the chance.

For babies with a congenital anomaly that is incompatible with life, they can be offered palliative care if the event they survive delivery.
